As we travel towards the next generation, the question becomes "how do we travel more sustainably?" In the last 100 years, we have gone from carbohydrate-powered transportation (the horse), to hydrocarbon-powered transportation (the engine). This transformation from a plant based energy source, to a fossil fuel one is the main reason for today's environmental pollution, climate change and political strife. What can we do as conscious consumers to ease the strain on Mother Nature's finite resources?

We can minimize our personal impact on the environment and preserve the earth for future generations. Whether it's walking, riding a bike, car pooling, buying a hybrid car or switching to plant-based bio-fuels, how we choose to change our traveling ways can have a positive effect on the environment around us. Let's ride! Please send in your comments and any personal stories about how you have made a shift towards alternative transportation to: offthegrid@voiceyourself.com.
